Solar hybrid? Batteries or no batteries?
On Grid- you have mains power or are within 1000 feet of mains power, this situation lends itself to grid tie (Grid Interactive) solar, using the main grid power and supplementing with solar during the day. Most urban homes have a Low chance of power outages and so batteries are not required. The next step on from Grid tie is hybrid grid tie, which is using the mains power to run the larger loads in the house and supplementing with solar during the day as well as charging a bank of deep cycle batteries, using the battery power to supplement night time loads, or keep the battery power for emergency's so you will always have power for essential loads. Batteries are only required if you require backup power or load shifting, on a pure grid tie system batteries are not required.
